News from the winery

Caren the first takes over the crown of the wine princess.

Caren Entenmann, the niece of Helmut Darting, was honoured in the second week of the sausage market, the world’s biggest wine festival, as Bad Dürkheim’s wine princess. Caren will be representing wine from Dürkheim out of the season 2011/2012 and will also act as a city representative for Bad Dürkheim.

The 20 year old completed in 2011 her Abitur at the Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium in Bad Dürkheim and as a next career step she would like to accomplish an apprenticeship as a professional tax clerk. At the moment Caren Entenmann is working for the Darting winery and has already been able to gather many different experiences. What Caren especially enjoys is the customer consultation. At the Pro Wine fair in Düsseldorf and at the Pfälzer Barrique forum Caren was able to collect valuable experiences.

“I am looking forward to the tasks that are waiting for me – I especially would like to pass on to other people my passion for wine and for my hometown. Bad Dürkheim offers all that you need: A great landscape, good wine, great wine festivals and last but not least Bad Dürkheim has many friendly, outgoing people” - these were the introductory words in Caren’s welcoming speech.

2008 DC Spätburgunder- official Chopin Wine produced by Darting

Pfälzer Wine - Special edition to celebrate Fryederyk Chopin’s 200th Birthday Anniversary

Wanting to celebrate the 200th birthday anniversary of Fryederyk Chopin the Pfalzweinwerbung in cooperation with the polish consulate general have elected two sorts of wine as the official Fryederyk Chopin special edition. An established jury of experts carried out the election. Both wines will be presented to a wide audience at different venues. The polish artist Barbara Widlek from the Krakow art school designed the wine etiquette.

Historically there are tight connections between the Pfalz and Poland. Around 1832 Poland had a big delegation marching to the Hambach Castle during the German democracy movement.

The 2008 Spätburgunder has a great nose and tastes of cherry, marzipan and vanilla. Its full-bodied and strong bouquet is at the same time very smooth – a perfect wine to accompany a splendid meal. Of course you can also enjoy the wine whilst listening to the great chimes of Fryederyk Chopin.
